The Custom Framer: About Us

After working on the North Shore for a few years Mari and Charlie Barnes decided to open their own shop in 1984. They were located in the Ravinia Business District for twenty two years and only recently decided to give downtown Highland Park a try.  The new location boasts 6000 square feet of space and over 4000 moulding                                             and matting choices.

The site offers state of the art framing with "frame view" technology and our famous overhead mirrors. Our best feature is our experienced staff that can guide you towards the best frame choice for anything you might frame.




Custom framing is as much about lifestyle as it is decor. People frame items that represent their history, like family, photos, medals, antique dolls and so much more. Reframing is  Charlie's favorite part to do because the change can be so dramatic.
